Arts in Bushwick is an all-volunteer organization, and we need great volunteers to help make large scale events like Bushwick Open Studios a reality. Volunteering with AiB is a great way to get to know members of Bushwick’s community, work on local arts initiatives, gain event experience, build a content portfolio, and get to know how the neighborhood operates.
How to Volunteer
Arts in Bushwick would not happen without our volunteers. Our year-round volunteer needs are listed below. Please let us know what you might be interested in volunteering for by filling out the form at the bottom of this page. Someone from Arts in Bushwick will be in touch with you about getting involved as soon as possible.
We have an ongoing need for writers who can commit to creating original articles for our blog on a regular basis (i.e., one to two articles per month). Specific topics vary — it just has to pertain to Bushwick and/or involve Bushwick artists/venues. We also welcome photo-based essays. So whether you’re a writer or photographer, the AiB Blog wants to hear from you!
Media and Documentation
Help us document our activities year-round (photo/video/audio/etc.) by producing media content for our website.
We will be hosting several events throughout the BOS weekend, including our opening night event Seeking Space, the Performance Art Showcase, and CinemaSunday. These require people power! We need volunteers to help set up, break down, and run things during the events.
We coordinate a number of year-round community programs, including regular community arts workshops and our fellowship program for local high school students. We have many exciting projects planned, including our annual Community Day street fair during BOS weekend! If you have ideas or want to get involved, please let us know!
Help us with registration, outreach, and other operational needs. We need help with flyering, website content updates, and ongoing operational tasks as we get close to a big event. We also need people to distribute information to the hubs during BOS weekend to work with our local artist, business, gallery and non-profit members to put on the best Bushwick has to offer.
If you have an idea for something (an event, a project, etc.,) for which you think AiB should help provide a platform, let us know. We’re always open to new input and ideas, so come on down!
