THE STATE OF CREATIVES
April 3, 2020 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am EDT

COVID-19 has had an unprecedented effect on arts institutions, artists, and the creative economy as a whole. Unfortunately, city, state, and federal funding has done little to stem the tide of creative business closings and arts institution insolvency. This is especially true for people of color (POC) who face barrier after barrier to emergency funding, long-term financial well-being, and equitable creative expression.
In this webinar, we’ll share:
- How POC-led institutions and POC artists are disproportionately disenfranchised by this crisis and its response from government and foundations
- What this means for small business and new entrepreneurs
- Case stories of COVID-19 Impact
- What individuals and corporations can do
- What ABC is doing and how to track ongoing updates
Participants will:
- Try on the shoes of a nonprofit leader or creative entrepreneur of color in an interactive problem-solving exercise
- Understand the context in which creative communities of color are facing this crisis
- Create a toolbox for action to support local artists, arts organizations, and creative entrepreneurs and track activities in real-time
