This Year For Bushwick Open Studios we are Show Casing Michael Jacob Roth and Jonathan Igharas
with performances by Maja Ho
Micheal Jacob Roth – The
is a visual artist from the United States currently residing in Brooklyn, NY. His work mostly uses color, shape, and size to manipulate the physiological and emotional environment of the work. Most recently, he is finishing a large installation of a painting that resembles the appearance of a subway car. Using transparent materials and bright colors, the space is constructed as a meditative vessel that travels through the emotional space of time, rather than physical. Using the same dimensions of the subway, this installation is meant to mimic its tight space in order to catalyze the energy of traveling underground in a big city. Although placed high in a factory loft, the work transforms into much more than just a subway – it is a time machine, an old wooden ship, a car, a stainless steel spaceship, phone booth, and teleportation device.
