La Femme Cheri is an Artist from Staten Island who started her art career in 2014 doing live painting events and showing her paintings of her signature characters the “Welshdolls.” Over her illustrious 7 year career she has done mural work around NYC, a Hostel in Miami, a children’s book, and a Street Art Magazine cover. In her spare time she does various Digital art, logos, t shirt designs, portraits, animations, and AR. Recently Cheri has been delving into 3D sculpting. In her future plans she intends to write a manga and develop more animations for her social media pages. She loves anime and music. Also a talented singer and self taught pianist in her childhood years, she also hopes to venture  back into the world of music in the future.

Arts In Bushwick Residency Show : Exodus 13

Exodus 13 is the self titled show from La Femme Cheri sponsored in full by Arts In Bushwick. An 8 week program designed to fulfill an artist needs to create a wonderful showcase by the end of the term. Exodus 13 is about La Femme Cheri’s tumultuous upbringing as a child going through various living situations and constantly moving through apartments and shelter systems. Through all of that one thing has remained constant and that is her love for art that she takes wherever she goes. Exodus is simply a name to describe what she feels as she embarks on new journeys with her “Welshdolls.”

Through the pandemic Cheri went through a very tough art block which seemed to last a long time and had a seemingly lasting effect on her imagination.  Exodus 13 is a journey through her old sketches and ideas she would draw as a child which helped with her art block immensely. The artwork featured in the show is her rendition of taking these same childhood ideas and pairing them with new painting techniques learned over the past 7 years that creates a very vivid and colorful world.
