charcoal on paper
9 x 12 inches
I am a visual artist working primarily in the medium of drawing. My recent body of work uses charcoal to explore the interior architecture of home in order to gain access to a perceptual and psychological understanding of the places in which we live and our role within them. I want to elevate these familiar spaces with an intensely focused way of looking and expose them as the repositories of information which I believe that they are. My drawings investigate home environments to reveal relationships between perception and memory, as meaning is located by discovering the physical and psychological characteristics of the places we call home.
