Black wheel is a small yet large picture of community determination in the face of gross power. Through drawing, painting, sculpting and installation, Niki Singleton draws on both popular culture and mythology in order to create works that simultaneously comment on contemporary society and reference human history. Her narrative paintings often include underdogs, failed kings and unsung goddesses. Singleton’s work celebrates those that scream or should scream from the fringes of society.
