About SITE Fest

SITE Fest is a two-day interdisciplinary event highlighting the diversity of performance in Bushwick.  Encompassing and blending a variety of forms including theater, dance and music, SITE investigates our neighborhood as an unfolding collaborative performance enacted in urban space. SITE arose in response to the amazing outpouring Arts in Bushwick receives every year for BETA Spaces and Open Studios, giving performance artists the opportunity to display work in a collaborative environment.

SITE focuses around curated hub spaces, which are organized and run by Arts in Bushwick. Performances also take place in a variety of satellite spaces (apartments, studios, street corners, galleries, etc.). Satellite space events are produced and managed by independent curators.

SITE Fest is a featured Brooklyn event of Armory Arts Week.

Previous SITE Fests

SITE Fest was founded in 2009. SITE Fest ’09 sought to expand the interaction between spectators and spectacle, as creators and visitors moved through a plethora of spaces, media, and styles.

SITE Fest ’10 focused around three hub venues, divided by genre, which provided free space, tech support and stage management to over 60 performances on a first-come, first-served basis.  In addition, over thirty shows took place in a variety of alternative “satellite” spaces throughout the neighborhood.  Finally, in conjunction with SITE, Arts In Bushwick presented ionSOUND, a two-day music festival featuring more than twenty bands on two stages.
