Open Studio – Works by Cristiane Bouger
Video Performances, Photography and Documentation
During BOS 2015 interdisciplinary artist Cristiane Bouger will open her studio to share a selection of works created for video and photography between 2003 and 2015.
By reflecting upon biography and fiction, the performer creates unexpected actions through which the body is intensified as a container for tension, loss, and desire. In these works the embodied experience is activated as a platform to prompt critical perspectives on the subjects addressed, surpassing what the established cultural norm imposes.
About Cristiane Bouger:
“The imagery of my works reveals both existential and symbolic examinations upon the body, biography, fiction, culture and politics. Through my interdisciplinary work I aim to provoke dissonances and the displacement of meaning to ignite an unexpected perceptual apprehension on the viewers. I look for the gap in which the automatized recognition of meaning fails, allowing space for reflection and questioning.”–Cristiane Bouger
