Arts Education Panels
The Arts and Literacy Program is excited to bring together a diverse group of local artists, arts educators and activists to discuss artistic identity, arts education trends, cultural competence, cross cultural exchange and gentrification. We are pleased to present our panels during Bushwick Open Studios 2012. The Arts Education Panels have been funded, in part, by the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.
There will be three panels on June 2nd:
The Identity and History of the Teaching Artist
Arts Education in Bushwick and Surrounding Neighborhoods: Art for Art’s Sake, Art for Community Building, or Art for Academic Reinforcement?
Cultural Competence and Cross Cultural Exchange in Arts Education in Bushwick and other Gentrifying Neighborhoods
Since 1993 the CHFS Arts and Literacy Program has provided arts education to Bushwick children and families through creative writing, the visual arts, drama, photography, video, creative movement, music, and landscaping. We are happy to have this opportunity to create a platform for dialogue about issues in arts education.
