CELEBRATES INDEPENDENT PUBLISHING IN BROOKLYN
June 4th-June 5th, 2011, Brooklyn, NY–For a decade now, Brooklyn has been a fulcrum of both DIY ethos and literary exploration. To celebrate this tradition, Arts in Bushwick and Slice magazine present the second annual Bushwick Open Pages, June 4th and 5th, from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The festival aims to present a non-hierarchical cross-section of independent publishing.
Organizations across strata and media have been invited to participate, including literary journals, online publications, zines, individual letterpress publishers, brick-and-mortar booksellers, and more. Confirmed participants include BOMB, n+1, Red Lemonade, Gigantic, A Public Space, Birdsong, Slice, Lungfull!, W+G News and Arts, Fiction Circus and Hyperallergic.com.
In addition to booths dedicated to independent publishing organizations, panels on Saturday and Sunday will explore aspects of building a strong DIY publishing ethos. The panels are:
