Danny Licul is a painter living and working in Brooklyn. His work has been exhibited at Owen James Gallery (Greenpoint), Friday Gallery (Bushwick), Gallery SENSEI (LES), Bull and Ram Gallery (Bushwick), UMass (Amherst), White Box Gallery (NY) and Sara Meltzer Gallery (NY), among others. He was awarded an LMCC Swing Space and a residency at The Herzliya Center for the Creative Arts (Israel). His work is in the collection of MOMA. Licul attended Pratt, SUNY Purchase and Queens College, from which he received a B.F.A.
“My paintings, like childhood, are colorful, playful, exploratory spaces that are prone to changes. For several years I’ve been exploring power plays in a parochial school setting and, recently, how other architectural spaces, particularly Brutalist, can mold broader social dynamics.”
