Letters cut from Koran, prayer flags
4 x 5 inches
Meg Hitchcock works with sacred texts, cutting letters from one holy book to create a passage from another. She transforms the word of God into intricate collages. This series is based on the Tibetan Buddhist mantra “om mani padme hum”. The letters, cut from the Koran, are stacked and give the appearance of mala beads, the Tibetan version of the rosary. The threads are cut from prayer flags.
